Yeah on the getk2.com, the website for the Wordpress theme K2 is the version 1.0 RC8 released. Yesterday I updated my wordpress blog software and I also updated to the latest K2. After uploading, there were some trouble with my FTP connection (it takes hours to upload all files… 
) but in the end it worked all fine. But then I recognized a little failure. Under each title of a post normally the user founds some information like the author, the date, the category, comments and tags. But there were nothing, only this little clock-icon. What a pitty …
My first thought was: is there gone something wrong while uploading?
No! With the version RC8 the user is able to configure in some ways the looking of parts on the frontend of the K2 theme. You have to login to the backend and then visit Design > K2 Options and there you have to configure which data will appear in the “Top Meta”.
The “Bottom Meta” means a part at the end of the post on the list view (like the start page of the blog) of your articles. The only thing I missed: if you add “%comments%” to your Top Meta, on the blog appear this little balloon, the number of comments and the word “comment”. So you are not able to completely translate those data to german.
This would be great, if you can configure these things, also like “Continue reading…” in the backend like you want. So “%comments%” Only have to be the balloon with the number of comments, nothing more.
Du hast ein neues Blog und wartest auf neue Besucher, Kommentare. Die kommen nicht von ungefähr. Außer, dass Du Themen oder Inhalte aufgreifst die andere interessieren ist es ebenso wichtig, dass man seinen Blog bei Diensten bekannter macht, so dass potentielle Leser diesen Blog auch finden. Nicht jeder, der ein Thema sucht benutzt für die Suche Google.
Ich möchte in diesem Beitrag einige moderne Dienste und Techniken vorstellen die helfen können den eigenen Blog etwas bekannter zu machen. Letztlich zählt aber immer noch der eigene Stil und die Inhalte. Um vornherein Missverständnisse auszuschließen: Ich bin nicht der Meinung, dass man (wie es eine Zeitung mit vier großen Buchstaben tut) reißerische oder andere boulevard-Themen aufgreifen sollte, nur weil diese scheinbar viele Leute interessieren und somit dazu führen den eigenen Blog bekannter zu machen. Man sollte sich seinen Themen und seinen Inhalten treu bleiben und sich nicht, wie die privaten Fernsehsender dem Verfall hingeben in dem reißerischen Kampf um Klicks. Lieber eine gute und interessante Nische ausfüllen, als mit dem Strom zu schwimmen und im Strudel der Stromschnellen unterzugehen. Jedoch muss dies jeder für sich selbst entscheiden.

Beim Schreiben von Artikeln, muss man sich auch immer wieder auf andere Artikel und Nachrichten beziehen und diese im Text zitieren. Da die Namen von Zeitungen Eigennamen sind wie zum Beispiel Spiegel, setze ich diese zur Hervorhebung gerne in Kapitälchen (small-caps). Das bewirkt, dass alle Buchstaben als Großbuchstaben dargestellt werden.
