Since Firefox 3.x is released my Firefox does not delete the history after the set days in the preferences. But there was a little change. In former versions the setting was described with “remember visited pages for the last … days”. But now in the newer versions on the privacy tab in the preferences it is described with: “keep my history for at least”. This implicates, that the browser keeps the history for at least these days and longer. But if you want Firefox to delete the whole history after the set days you have to change something on the core-settings.
Open in a new tab the page about:config and write in the filter bar “history”. There you´ll find a setting which you have to set the days, you wanted the browser to maximal keeping your history:
- browser.history_expire_days_min
And you have to set the days in your settings preferences > privacy > keeping history for at least.
That´s it.

Of course the correct setting is browser.history_expire_days
But this doesn´t work for me with FF 3. FF also stored older history data.
Only the described above really let the FF delete all history data older than x days… for me!
