Yesterday I wrote about a problem with Comodo Firewall and a problem with the last update under Windows Vista x64.
Yesterday I also updated my firewall installation on my notebook with Windows XP Media Center Edition (it is a extended Home-Edition). I had a similar problem: the firewall started to update than a error occurs, that Comodo Firewall can´t finish update because the file cfp.chm can not be copied. The problem is more difficult than the one on Windows Vista, because the firewall does not work afterwards. The update maybe begun to copy files from the temp- to the program-directory but can´t finished copying all files. So some files missed. The result is a not updated and not runnable Comodo Internet Security (CIS) Firewall. My solution afterwards.
During the update process the firewall shows a error-message: a file named cfp.chm can´t be copied. The temp-directory where the downloaded update files (the new files) are stored is C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Data\TempFiles\. There is also the new cfp.chm file. The program-directory is (normally) C:\Program Files\COMODO\Firewall\. After the update process my Comodo Firewall was crashed (no symbol in the system tray anymore). I try to restart the firewall but I got an error of the file cfp.dll.
Copy the cfp.dll from TempFiles to the program-directory and restart Comodo Firewall as administrator (right click: run as administrator)! Now restart the Update process via the program window under “Miscellaneous”. Comodo now will show an error, that the update can´t be started because cfpupd.dll is missing.
Copy the cfpupd.dll from the temp-directory to the program-directory! Then restart the update. Now it must work and run through!
Afterwards you will have a new and updated Comodo Internet Security.
Another problem after the updates (on Vista and XP) is not solved: it always shows me the red-shield from the Windows Security Manager which warns me that now firewall is active, but this is not true (CIS is running). That´s very strange!
